It is our pleasure to invite you to the first Nordic Symposium on Syncope – sudden fainting – to be arranged in Malmö, Sweden October 20-21 2011.

Syncope – or sudden loss of consciousness – has developed to become a big clinical problem during the last years. Around 1-2% of all patients in the primary care are syncope-related, and 40% of all people will experience syncope. Around 1000 patients/million inhabitants need acute care each year. The treatment is device implantation or medical treatment

.

In spite of this, there are no uniform routine for handling this large group of patients in the Nordic countries today.

We are planning a Nordic Symposium in Malmö October 20-21 2011. The symposium has a main focus on Syncope. We expect around 350 active participants from the Nordic and Baltic countries. Physicians and health care specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, neurology, clinical physiology, primary care, etc. are all very welcome. We have recently established the first complete syncope-unit in Sweden, including diagnostic and treatment routine for these patients (Europace 2010; 12, 1322-1328).

We have been successful in attracting world leading authorities to give lectures at this meeting and the program including registration can be found at the following webb-page: www.nordsync.com

The program is multidisciplinary, and includes updated information on most of the aspects behind Syncope, including how to diagnose and ways of treatment. Today most patients with Syncope can be treated

.

You are very welcome to participate in this meeting!

See you in Malmö!

On behalf of the organizing committee,
